Q. How does this product work?
A.. The thermal sense technology sufficiently form fits the tray with the temperature of the mouth. The tray is then removed and a small bead of gel (0.5 cc) is placed in both arches on the inner facial side. The tray is then placed in the mouth for 20 minutes with the LED light focused on the tray. It works like this: The active ingredient in the solution breaks down, allowing oxygen to enter the enamel and dentin, thereby removing stains and whitening the teeth to a lighter colour.
Q. How long does this process take and what are the results?
A. Results can vary, as everyone is different. The grade, and genetic traits of your teeth as well as age can affect the process. But we recommend a 20 minute treatment. Most people will see a difference of 2-8 shades immediately.
Q. How long will this process last?
A. Two to four years is not unusual but we do recommend that you care for your new smile with our whitening extender pen. Typically we recommend pursuing another treatment in about 6 months to maintain the best results.
Q. Is the product safe?
A. Research has shown that if teeth and gums are normal and healthy there are no adverse effects to bleaching one’s teeth. You must make sure the dosage is of legal limits and is not excessive and administered in a professional manor. People with tooth decay and with any type of gum disease should avoid this treatment. Pregnant or lactating women should avoid this procedure; no know side effects are affirmed but it is simply a precaution. Never use light on some one who is photosensitive or taking photosensitive medication.
Q. Who may benefit from this whitening process?
A. Almost everyone can enjoy the benefits of the whitening process if their teeth and gums are healthy. Teeth cannot be bleached whiter than genetically possible. Tetracycline stains may not be removed with one treatment. Stains resulting from excessive fluorides or if the teeth are really porous, one can expect little result. Excluding the above, about 95 per cent of our clients experience success.
Q. Will the gel and peroxide you offer be the same as from my family dentist?
A. Absolutely. The carbamide peroxide used in our system, although at legal limits, is in many cases more potent than what your dentist will supply. The key to the success of our whitening system is our blue light technology which increases the potency of whitening in a fraction of the time and cost.
Q. Is this procedure done by a dentist?
A. This process is supplied as an over the counter cosmetic whitening procedure. Professionals in the teeth whitening business guide you with the procedure but we do not practice dentistry.
Q. Will this product whiten my crowns or fillings, or damage them in any way?
A. No, but the standard procedure is to first whiten all adjacent teeth, wait two weeks for the colour to stabilize, then go to your dentist and have him match the crown to your new shade of teeth. On contrary. If the crown has already been place for many years, the whitening process can return the rest of your teeth to the original shade prior to the crown placement. The same goes for veneers, composites and bridges.
Q. Are there any side effects?
A. Some people may feel a little tingling sensation, white gum line, or sensitivity, all of which are normal and hold no real danger. Typically, this will only last a few hours.
Q. How long before I can eat or drink after my treatment?
A. The first 24 hours we would recommend avoiding coffee, tea, dark coloured sodas, red wines, berries, candies, red sauces, beets, or any foods that have the propensity to stain.
